PAWS is a community outreach organization formed to complement the function of St. Tammany Parish Dept. of Animal Services, the animal control facility for St. Tammany Parish, Louisiana.

Unlike no kill shelters and humane rescue groups, animal control shelters cannot turn an animal away. Many of the animals that come into our shelter have conditions or injuries that would make them ineligible to be accepted by any other sheltering group.

Our shelter serves a human population of over 200,000. This human population turns over 6,000 pets into our shelter annually. Many of those animals are adoptable, but only about 10% are adopted.
